Common Mistakes Carpet Owners Make When Trying To Get Stuff Out of Carpet

At some point in our lives, we all come across a day we may gasp, point to the carpet, and exclaim, "what is that stuff?!" When you live a busy life with kids, pets, house guests, teenagers, or grandkids, you can easily predict that your carpet won't always stay clean. But when the day comes that you come across something nasty stuck to your carpet fibers, we want to help you be prepared with the knowledge you need to get that stuff out and not make your carpets worse!

How To Get Dog Pee Out of Carpet

One of the most popular things that people search for a solution is how to get dog pee smell out of carpet. Many dog stain cleaning tips and tricks will work well to remove the stain from the carpet surface but don't address the deeper problem. An example of this is a common DIY way of getting dog pee out of carpet. People say that if you mix vinegar with water, pour over the mess, then dab it out with a cleaning towel, you can take care of your dog stain problems all on your own. Doing this may temporarily satisfy you but won't keep you satisfied in the long run because vinegar can't permanently eliminate odors and doesn't have the power to remove the contaminants that will damage your carpet. Similar issues often accompany carpet cleanings done by traditional carpet cleaners. They address problems on the surface of the carpet by cleaning with soaps, chemicals, deodorizers, perfumes, and oils. The stain may look gone and smell gone for the first few weeks, but often reappears because the real odor problem will only be masked with good smells. If you are in need of a cleaning that will both remove pet stains, and eliminate odors for good, check out our Pet Odor Treatment service.

Zerorez® Southwest Florida has the ultimate pet stain cleaner that removes odors permanently, solves the problems beneath your carpet and other hiding places, uses a green technology that won't harm your pets or children, and stops harmful substances growth found in animal urine, feces, and vomit. For more severe cases of pet stains, when the pet urine soaks through the carpet backing into the padding, we have a specialized method to remove these difficult pet odors and stains through a pad extraction procedure. We guarantee a clean that will stay cleaner longer and eliminate your pet smells rather than mask them! Check out more on our pet odor treatment page.

How To Get Blood Out of Carpet

If blood gets onto your carpet, it will create a dark red stain if not removed. Blood is most easily removed from the carpet if you can clean it up before it dries. If the blood has already dried onto the carpet, begin cleaning by removing as much of the dried blood as you can with a scraping tool. Vacuum what you have been able to scrape off. The next step is where it gets tricky. Many people say to finish off the job with cold water and dish detergent, but we would NEVER recommend putting soap into your carpet. When you put soap into your carpet fibers, it always leaves behind a soapy residue that will soon turn into a dirt magnet. Instead, the best thing you can do is catch it early, then use an ice cube, cold water, and a paper towel. Hot water will set the stain, so be sure you use cold water. An ice cube on fresh blood does a great job preventing the blood from settling into carpet fibers. Using ice in combination with cold water and paper towels, you can often get it out before it sets. If you have a bloodstain in your carpet that won't come out with water itself, we recommend that you let the Zerorez® professionals do the job. They will be able to remove the stain through our process that uses no soaps, detergents, or harsh chemicals. Learn more about our cleaning process here!
